Dani Sadowsky | Video
Scott Westerberg
7/21/2010
Even though she`s planning on playing basketball next year in college, Killdeer`s Dani Sadowsky thought her playing days at the high school level were over months ago. A surprise invitation to the Lions All-Star game has given Dani one last chance to represent the Cowboys.

Even though she averaged 16 points and over 8 rebounds a game, Sadowsky says she was shocked when she was named 2nd team all-state in March. Well, the surprises kept right on coming as Sadowsky added Lions All-Star to her list of achievements, "It`s been really fun because I guess I didn`t expect myself to be here," Dani explains, "so once I got the letter in the mail I was really excited about it. It`s definitely intimidating for sure."

What`s probably more intimidating than being in the All-Star game was the schedule the Cowboys played last season. Killdeer`s third place finish is region 7 is pretty impressive when you figure they were up against teams like Beach and Hazen, "It obviously made you better when you played against good girls like that. Here these girls are just as good too, but Region 7 is definitely a tough region to play in."

One fellow All-Star and former Region 7 opponent is quite familiar with Dani. The two battled each other plenty of times throughout high school, and now they get to be teammates, "It is a lot of fun actually," says Hazen`s Stef Bohrer, "Usually we`re always battling it out on the court and now we`re actually playing together. She`s a powerhouse inside and she`s always fun to play against and play with. She always brings a smile to your face even if you`re really frustrated she always has that great grin on her face. "Not only is Sadowsky playing with an old foe, she`s always getting to see two of her future teammates at Williston State, "There`s a couple girls here that are going to play, so I know some of them. We`re going to be young, so it will be a good bonding experience."

But before she packs her bags for Williston, Dani is making sure she enjoys one last, and in her eyes, unexpected prep basketball game.
