A love for animals led to the start of a successful, small business. For Pet Parade owner Lori Henderson, working with animals is not just part of her job, it was also part of her upbringing.

"I actually grew up on a farm. So, I had all kinds of animals."

And those animals influenced her career choices.

"I really wanted to go to school to be a vet. But, I didn`t want to leave North Dakota."

Although she wasn`t able to be the veterinarian she hoped to be, she did open a successful business where she surrounded herself with all types of animals.

"I just decided this would be the easiest way to deal with it. I couldn`t be a vet. So, I would just decided I would do this. So, I can be around the animals all the time."

For the past 18 years, Henderson has welcomed dogs, birds and bunnies into her store.

"We always try to find them good homes. We make sure people know everything about them before they leave here so they can take good care of them."

Pet Parade prides themselves on educating their customers about animal care before they take their new, furry friend home. They also offer a wide variety of pet supplies, grooming and a self-service dog wash facility.
