According to Stenejemís office, the businesses sell medical alert devices and monitoring services over the phone. The businesses claim that the individual gets a free medical alert system, but has to pay a monthly fee for the monitoring service. Stenejem says that the companies were allegedly making calls to people on the do-not-call list and were using technology to make it look like the phone calls were local.
