Target Logistics Sold for 625 Million | Video

Chris Williams | 2/13/2013

Man Camps have helped ease the housing burden of housing in the oil patch, and for one company it`s now paying dividends. Target Logistics, the largest operator of crew housing in the Bakken with 10 camps, sold out to Algeco Scotsman for $625 million.

The company says the main reason for the merger is the potential to expand. Scotsman operates in 37 countries. Those who live in the camps may not notice any changes. The name will remain the same, and senior management will not change.

The Bakken was one of Target Logistics biggest payoffs.

“The Bakken was really kind of one of our first real big stabs at long-term housing, so the Bakken was definitely a big factor in the sell,” said Target Logistics Regional Vice President Travis Kelley.

Target Logistics had plenty of experience putting up housing for short term events, like the Olympics.
