More than 220 businesses lined up their products for display at the Energy Generation Conference. The conference brings a host of utility workers in the coal plant, power plant and refinery fields. Quest Engineering has attended the conference almost every year, and managers say they enjoy networking with people who actually turn the nuts and bolts in the plant.
"You get to talk to a lot of different people at different levels of the plant so that you can hopefully service them better when you are out there working with them," said Craig Schmidt, Quest Engineering.
Throughout the three days, the conference also offers classes and training sessions to catch workers up on new technologies.
"It is really beneficial for those that work in the industry to be able to remain current in their area of expertise and to be able to receive training. And also hear from people located throughout the US," said Kari Knudson, BSC Energy Center Vice President.
New businesses say they have heard good things about the show, and it is a good networking opportunity.
"We heard there was great attendance. And it gives us a chance to get over here and see existing customers . We do have customers in the area. Plus it gives us the chance to meet some new customers," said Shane Rekdal, Flowmark High Tech Filters.
The conference continues Wednesday and Thursday and includes a session on the Bakken and Three Forks Formation.
