County Road Safety Program

| 1/29/2013

The Governor and the Department of Transportation announced a new program today for safety on county and township roads in oil country. The new county road safety program will provide funding for 17 counties to implement safety measures such as enhanced signing for road curves; upgraded signing or pavement markings to improve visibility of intersections; larger regulatory or warning signs, and intersection warning rumble strips.

"Due to the continued energy traffic and population growth in this part of the state, we are asking counties to participate by constructing low-cost safety strategies in 2013," said NDDOT Interim Director Grant Levi.

The program will provide up to $10 million in funding for the safety measures
