Eight Bismarck Officers Promoted | Video

Retha Colclasure | 1/22/2013

When Dan Donlin became Bismarck`s newest chief of police, eight other spots within the department opened for promotion. Today, eight officers were given their new badges to go with those new positions.

Acting Deputy Chief Randy Ziegler was officially promoted to the job, as was Dave Draovitch, who is the Deputy Chief of Support Services. Three people were promoted to lieutenant and three more to sergeant.

"As you can see, this brings quite a bit of change within this department, and change is good. Frankly, it is good, especially when you have young talented people such as these moving in to new positions and new responsibilities, bringing their knowledge, their skills, their abilities and their talents in to their new positions that I know is going to make this department even better than it is now," Donlin said.

The Bismarck police department has 109 sworn officer positions, and 28 non-sworn jobs.
