Body Found in Tioga | Video

Chris Williams | 1/15/2013

A mystery in Tioga. Police retrieved a body from under an RV in the middle of town yesterday. They know who he was but not why he died. Police say when they saw the body, it was clear it had been there some time because it was frozen under the RV. The last time anyone can remember seeing the man was on Friday evening.

Police responded to the call around 5:30 Monday afternoon, and almost instantly rumors started spreading through town. "There was probably 30 rumors last night of all the things that I kept hearing, until I got to work this morning. I still don`t know what any of the facts are," said Skol Bar general manager Rhonda Ginther.

Criminal Investigator Larry Maize is working on the case. He is trying to figure out the hours leading up to the man`s death. "They`re really isn`t much we can put out right now because we don`t really know that much."

Tioga Police and the Bureau of Criminal Investigation are hoping to know more in the next few days. "The body was removed to Bismarck to the medical examiner’s office, and we`ll have to wait for an autopsy report before we`ll have anything concrete to go on," added Maize.

For now, police aren`t ruling anything out. The RV the man was found under is three doors down from Skol`s bar, so police are checking to see if the man could have been in the bar recently. "They came in yesterday evening. They went downstairs and took our whole DVD player. I`m not sure why, they said to find out if the guy was in the bar. I don`t know if he was or not, I wasn`t here," added Ginther.

Police said the man was not from Tioga, but they couldn`t say what he was doing in town. Ginther says she can`t ever remember anything like this happening in Tioga. "It`s going to be devastating. The guy, from what I understand, is not from here so I feel really bad for his family, whatever might have happened to him."

Maize hopes to get the autopsy results back later this week, but until then he will continue to follow any leads that come in.
