School counselors say it`s important to be honest with your children when they ask about the shooting, but you should be sure to keep it age appropriate and reassure them schools have safety measures in place to protect them.
"It`s really important to make sure your child isn`t sitting in front of the television for hours on end, or even at all really. This is gonna be covered on the news. It`s going to be all over and make sure you`re there with them limiting what they`re seeing and being there to answer questions if they have any," said Northridge counselor Bobbi Leier.
