Roosevelt Park Zoo Update | Video

Amy Fox | 11/21/2012

More changes are coming to Minot`s Roosevelt Park Zoo thanks to an anonymous donor. The Park Department Foundation Board is giving Roosevelt Park Zoo $50,000 to use for repairs and updates.

This includes repairing the parking lot and lighting, as well as adding more benches.

But, as Zoo Director David Meritt explains, it`s not government money. "Because of our current situation, we`ve asked the board to forward some of that money under certain rules. Now, it can be spent on miscellaneous projects that have arisen that are not being covered by FEMA, that are not being covered by insurance, or any other source."

Meritt says the zoo looks forward to opening next spring and will continue to bring more animals back in the meantime.
