The Mandan school board got to see a preliminary drawing of its new school site on Monday. Architect Al Fitterer says the firm is figuring out the best places to put parking areas and drop off sites. And once that`s done, they`ll start to work on the building`s design. He says much of the school is laid out the same as Fort Lincoln Elementary, but there`s still room for changes.

"We toured schools in Fargo and West Fargo and Sunrise Elementary in Bismarck with some staff," says Fitterer.

"We took specialists, classroom teachers, custodians, different people that would have a different perspective, and we`re just gathering their input, what they liked, what they didn`t like and we`re going to go from there and design the school," says Superintendent Mike Bitz.
