Main Street Minute: Action Jackson Comics, Laughing Sun Brewing and Yankee Candle | Video

The business climate in Bismarck is just right for new businesses to open, and for some to give back. Bismarck is without a comic book store no more. Action Jackson Comics is open in the Bannister building at 402 East Main in Bismarck.

Owner Jackson Bird opened the store partly as a way to clear out some of the 70,000 comic books in his spare bedroom.

"I`m going to carry a lot of new stuff. Marvel, Superman, Batman, Spiderman, Avengers. I`m going to focus pretty heavy on kids stuff too, so I`m going to get a lot of kids comics and graphic novels," he said.

Mike Frohlich says the first weekend of Bismarck`s brand new brew pub was a success. Laughing Sun Brewery is on 5th street in downtown Bismarck.

"I`m really happy. It was really successful. We thought it was kind of an easy in. We didn`t want to get really slammed. It was perfect for us. We have a great staff. That really showed through these nice nights here," he said.

Laughing Sun also plans to offer live music every Wednesday, starting in December.

If you`re in the holiday spirit, you can give back at Yankee Candle in Kirkwood Mall. The Salvation Army mitten tree is set up in the store until December 20. Mittens donated to the mitten tree will be given to children in need during the Salvation Army`s annual Joy and Toy Shop.
