Winter Car Preparations | Video

Julie Leonardi | 11/9/2012

Preparing your car for winter is always a good idea, especially with a powerful storm heading our way. There are a few things to remember to get your car ready for the cold temperatures. Getting your oil checked and putting air in your tires is a top priority. Snow tires are suggested if you`re driving regularly on the back roads, but not necessary if you`re staying on the main roads.

Sue Kaliher, manager of Tire Plus in Minot, said checking your fluids and belts is the first step to taking proper precaution.

“Your cooling level should be good for thirty-four degrees below zero.”

Kaliher also mentions the importance of your tires. “Check your tires make sure you have good track and your tire pressure is correct. When the temperature changes, your tire pressure will go down.”

Block heaters are also recommended for those who don’t have a heated garage.
