One Year Since Bismarck Smoking Ban | Video

Michelle San Miguel | 4/9/2012

Bismarck bars went smoke-free almost a year ago. That hasn`t stopped Bismarck smokers from lighting up inside bars in other cities. In Lincoln, two of the city`s three bars allow smoking, including Tumbleweed Bar & Grill.

One of the bartenders, Erica Harter, there says she hasn`t noticed more people coming to the bar since smoking was banned in Bismarck bars.

"More so noticed that people are surprised when they come here that they can smoke you know and then they`re like I didn`t realize you could smoke out here."

Harter says she doesn`t think Lincoln residents would ever vote to ban smoking in their bars because of the number of smokers there.

Monday, the Bismarck Tobacco Free Coalition will release the results of a study that compares the air quality in places where smoking was once allowed with what the air quality there is like since the ban took effect on April 27.
