Fargo Buyouts Top Disaster List
Associated Press
7/30/2010
Democratic Rep. Earl Pomeroy says North Dakota could receive up to $80 million from a bill that restores funding to Federal Emergency Management Agency programs.

Most of the money will go toward weather-related disasters in the last two years, including home buyouts from the record-setting Red River flood in 2009. State Emergency Services officials say more than 40 structures in the Fargo area are on the list of acquisitions.

The president requested the emergency funding last February and the House and Senate went back and forth on different versions of the bill. Pomeroy says the delay never should have happened.
