It`s the second leading cause of cancer deaths in men and women. Gov. John Hoeven has proclaimed Friday, March 5, as "Dress in Blue Day" to promote awareness about colorectal cancer.
Around 120 North Dakotans will die from the disease this year. It is preventable. If you`re 50 or older you should see your doctor to get screened, but if you have a family history of the disease, screening should begin earlier.
"If you get a colonoscopy, we can maybe detect something and remove pollops and keep cancer from occuring," says Dr.Kevin Collins, radiation oncologist.
To prevent colorectal cancer you can also adjust your lifestyle by eating more fruits and vegetables and exercising. |
