| The Plains Art Museum in Fargo is getting a $1.2 million mural by James Rosenquist, a renowned pop artist who visited Fargo in 2005. Funding had been a hurdle in the acquisition. Museum officials say a donor gave $600,000, which was matched by the artist in labor, materials and a lowered fee. The donor was not identified. Museum Director Colleen Sheehy says the mural will boost the museum`s profile in the art world. Rosenquist was born in 1933 in Grand Forks. His mural will be unveiled at the museum in early October. |
