Roughly 27 million Americans are struggling with diabetes and millions don`t even know they have it. Trinity Health is raising awareness of this disease by expanding their services.
Trinity is opening a Diabetes Education Center at Health Center Town and Country early next year. This new office will provide resources such as group classes, grocery shopping assistance, and the newest information about diabetes. It’s not only available to those with diabetes, but also those who want to prevent it.
"The more patients know about it the more we can prevent the complications and for those who don`t have it but have risk factors, learning more to prevent," says Trinity Health RN, Deanna Westman.
The Trinity office diagnoses five new patients with diabetes every week. They`re hoping this center will encourage people to reduce their risk factors and make simple health improvements.
